Did you know that as an expat, you can vote in the upcoming elections? Well now you do! 😉
These elections will be extremely vital when it comes to the services Espoo and Western Uusimaa offer to their residents. Think daycare, schooling, zoning, preserving nature, taxation and healthcare as well as social services and emergency services. Our government is making it harder for counties and municipalities to offer all the needed and wanted services, but by voting you can, at best, counteract some of their policies.
I'll be making more content in English as well, and tackling all the issues I, as an expat and returnee, have seen and faced here. Overall Espoo is a great municipality for expats, but it could always be better! 🤭 We live in a multicultural municipality now, and we need to keep up with demand, and compete with not just Helsinki, but other international metropolitan areas. We could truly take some inspiration from other major cities like Copenhagen, my former hometown.
